People react to woman’s minor revenge on deceiving old after getting a new book online

Revenge is best served cold, but the sentiment might not be applicable to the web. Sometimes, for a particular person or situation we allow ourselves to get a bit wicked. The internet magic makes it possible for us to listen to other people’s stories without necessarily becoming the count of Monte Cristo
One netizen decided to share her little revenge after she stumbled upon an ex-boyfriend’s book online which had cheating and manipulation. She decided therefore to pour out all her malevolence in an acrimonious one-star review that tore apart the book. There were mixed comments with some celebrating small vindictiveness while other needed clarification.

Most of us will probably agree that getting back at an awful ex sounds like a fairly typical desire

I Gave My Ex Book a Bad Online Review. I’ve Never Even Read It.
He lied, cheated and left me pregnant with his child over 16 years ago, today I found his book on sale online there was something about seeing his name again that bought back terrible painful memories and made me want revenge so badly.
I had to write a scathing review of his book, in the comment section (paraphrased) as “Stephen King rip-off. Unless you wanna scrap your moment, skip this one. It was not worth my money and I should have known better before buying it. No worthwhile characters. Plot that is too artificial. The dialogue is terrible. I am pretty sure this was written by an angsty, semi-literate teenager. 1/5 stars.”

I’m sorry but acting like this does make me feel somewhat better, doesn’t it?

Since we started using language, revenge tales have been popular.

Petty and childish revenge stories can sometimes be healthy for those who they target. But anger in most cases results into ‘stupid’ actions that many understand how to scale over time. Legally it may not be possible to punish toxic former lovers; nevertheless, mankind has an inborn sense of justice. Vengeance has always been a common theme in literature and media where it is often represented violently and gruesomely. One can however seek for a revenge that is matured enough and unplanned like in OP’s story which serves as a great response to mistreatment when someone feels mistreated.

Psychologically, it is not perfect to grip to a grudge.

It’s not fit to keep bearing hard feelings for long thereby developing post-traumatic stress disorder. However, if you seek revenge, it can make the problem worse because your symptoms will always be linked to that person. It is crucial to consult a specialist in order to avoid long-term adverse effects of these emotions. Treating others badly may give rise to a thirst for fairness or vengeance, blurring the line between punishment and revenge. Anger drives revenge while punishment remains neutral. While directing anger into avenging might grant relief it eventually damages oneself more than the other party’s doings.
