Due to the Dress Code, Teachers banned from sneakers wear goth platform boots
When the teacher wounded his foot, they didn’t even permit him to put on comfortable sneakers.
However, as he eventually explained on the subreddit, he found a way out that made it clear to him that this policy needed modification (or at least should make some exceptions) and gotten him esteem from his students.
Teachers have uniforms in a way too for example, my former school’s superintendent had an authority enforcing rule for staff members who had to wear long-sleeved button-up shirts, ties, dress pants, dress shoes, or boots. Although a vague medical exemption exists in the contract when I wore sneakers due to foot pain, I received a warning email from the assistant principal.
So, I decided to stick strictly to dress code rules by wearing Demonia boots with outrageous platforms, studs, and chains all over them. Most students appreciated my daring fashion choice and there were some unusual pictures taken among ideas. However other colleagues condemned me for this act while few supported me.
To express my frustration with the rigid and backward views of the school administration, I decided to engage in “malicious compliance”.
I had been wearing boots for four days as a means of conforming to the dress code without any incident when the head teacher met me in the corridor and asked about my shoes. I told him they were meant to go by our dress codes and then moved on.
Afterward, an email reached me stating that I was unprofessional by wearing boots, which could result in disciplinary measures against me. It was resolved through contacting my union which quickly intervened as boots were acceptable. Since the last time I’d received a written reprimand regarding sore feet in sneakers.
The union-backed me up so that I could still be free to put on whatever type of footwear I wished for. For this reason, I chose sneakers for the rest of the academic year without any other challenges.
What started as my defiance touched others too hence there were ten of us who daily violated the dress code with non-compliant footwear. This rebellion has remained an enduring legacy at school that created some good memories and camaraderie between us rebels.
That school’s management seems to be a few decades behind, the teacher said.
ExeTheHero had some stories about his new school where he felt happy at first because of friendly and nice people. However, he soon realized that the administration was living in the past and this is how it treated teachers, who were seen as lecturers rather than interactive mentors. Moreover, compared to his former life at a more relaxed institution with no code on clothes except for decency; it showed how backwardness in education could be expressed.
When transferring to another school with strict dress codes, the teacher was culture shock. They believed that it did not help the teachers or the school and thought that these restrictions were unnecessary and demoralizing. It brought students together when their tutors ignored the official dressing style because they realized, they’re dealing with a human being.
Some experts believe there needs to be flexibility within these policies
Beth Lewis who is an education expert highlights that impressions are made by the appearances of teachers. Essentially, she advises educators on maintaining a professional appearance which should include looking comfortable without going overboard or trying too hard. She goes further to suggest business casual looks for them but also cautions against uncomfortable shoes that may give them sore feet after standing all day long. Clothes have an impact on academic perceptions.
